Tuna Champions

The Southern Bluefin Tuna (SBT) fishery is a favourite amongst game fishers. As recreational fishers, it is our role to take stewardship over our SBT fishery to ensure the sustainability of this magnificent fishery for future generations. Tuna Champions is an initiativeΒ of the Australian Recreational Fishing Foundation in collaboration with the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies at the University of Tasmania, funded by the Australian Government through the Fisheries Research and Development Corporation. It provides fishers with responsible fishing practices for SBT including a Code of Conduct for the fishery.

Being a Tuna Champion means using responsible fishing practices when targeting Southern Bluefin Tuna – and encouraging others to do the same. Small actions can make a big difference.

Visit the Tuna Champions website for tips, tools and useful information on best recreational fishing practices, as well as regulations, codes of practice and more.
