Revitalising Yan Yean Reservoir Park

Melbourne Water are investigating ways to create new recreation opportunities for the community at Yan Yean Reservoir.

Melbourne Water are currently consulting with the community regarding the use of Yan Yean Reservoir.

Currently, recreational fishing at Yan Yean Reservoir is not allowed. There is a productive redfin fishery in the reservoir, and if public access was supported, it could become a great fishery for metro recfishers to go fishing close to home.

The survey provides respondents with the opportunity to provide their ideas on additional features and activities that would make their experience at the reservoir more enjoyable. This is an opportunity for recreational fishers to suggest that they want to see public access to the waterway and recreational fishing permitted.

Consultation closes 15 May 2022.

As part of the engagement program, Melbourne Water will be:

  • Developing an engagement webpage for the project with online survey – open until Sunday May 15
  • In person pop-up events for community to hear about the project and speak with staff
    • Monday 18 April, Whittlesea Showgrounds Monday Market, 10am to noon
    • Thursday 28 April, Mill Park Library, 11am to 1pm
    • Sunday 1 May, Yan Yean Reservoir Caretaker’s Cottage, 10am to noon
  • Two site tours at Yan Yean for community members
  • A community and stakeholder workshop at the local library
