The 2022 Murray Codference is Coming to Shepparton

This year’s Murray Codference has been announced by the Victorian Fisheries Authority. It’s all happening in Shepparton on the 27th February.

VRFish EO, Ben Scullin, will be presenting at the Murray Codference. When Ben is not behind the desk making sure everyone can go fishing, he is an accomplished lure tournament fisher with international experience. Ben has a love of lure fishing for natives and competes in events such as the Mulwala Cod Nationals, which he won in 2019.

Catching the fish of a thousand casts doesn’t have to be hard. If you’re new to Cod fishing, Ben will spill the beans on a technique guaranteed to get you the numbers! Ben will also be discussing VRFish’s advocacy on Murray cod over the years.

You will also hear from:

  • Keynote address from two speakers: Thomas Pinter (pictured), a two-time Mulwala Classic winner who will share a few secrets on lake fishing for trophy cod. He’ll be joined by fellow impoundment fisher Kate Norman, who has become known in recent times as the ‘Eildon cod whisperer’.
  • John Fyffe will speak on the art of clearwater cod fishing with bait.
  • Bill Classon, editor of Freshwater Fishing Magazine, will talk through his preferred ways of targeting Murray cod and golden perch.
  • Updates on the new project that is tracking cod in the Goulburn River above Lake Eildon, recovery efforts on Macquarie perch, and the successful Women in Recreational Fishing Network, which was started right here in Victoria.

The Murray Codference is part of the State Government’s $35 million Go Fishing Victoria plan to get more people fishing, more often.
