World Recreational Fishing Conference kicks off in June

The World Recreational Fishing Conference (WRFC2021) is going digital in 2021 after two cancellations due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sportvisserij Nederland will be hosting the free online conference via Let’s Get Digital on Monday 28 and Wednesday 30 June 2021. The conference will be running from 13.00 CEST until 17.30 CEST each day. The time difference means the conference will commence at 9.00pm AEST. Via the platform Let’s Get Digital, attendees will have access to a lobby, 3 presentation rooms, a network carousel, breakout rooms for discussions and the option to chat to others in private rooms.

Presentations are divided into categories such as citizen science, environment, stock/resource management, societal relevance and acceptance of recreational fishing and changes in the recreational fishing sector.

There will be a Keynote Presentation to commence each day of the conference. Monday’s presentation by Ingrid van de Putten (NZ) is titled ‘Predicting recreational fisher behaviour in a changing world: What we need to know for successful management interventions’ and Wednesday’s presentation by Johan Attby (SW) is titled ‘How do we hook the next generation of anglers?
