Sport and Recreation Grants Open for Clubs

Sport and Recreation Victoria have announced that applications for the 2020-21 Sporting Club Grants Program are now open. We’re encouraging our fishing clubs to apply for grants through the program.

Last year, VRFish was endorsed as a State Sport and Recreation Body by Sport and Recreation Victoria which unlocks this much-needed funding for our fishing clubs.

These grants provide opportunities for our clubs to improve their capacity and accessibility, purchase uniforms and equipment, and increase the skills of club officials. There is also funding to assist in COVID-19 recovery, including providing support to clubs to implement a COVIDSafe Plan and assist in return to sport initiatives.

Under the Sporting Club Grants Program, there are four funding categories:

  • Uniforms or Equipment
  • Skill Development
  • Organisation Operational Capacity
  • COVID-19 Recovery

Applications close on Thursday 18 March 2021 at 5pm.

For more information and to apply, visit Sport and Recreation Victoria’s website:

There are also two grants for funding to improve infrastructure.

The Local Sports Infrastructure Fund is a state-wide Victorian Government program that provides a range of grant opportunities across five streams:

  • Better Indoor Stadiums
  • Female Friendly Facilities
  • Community Sports Lighting
  • Facilities for Active Seniors
  • Scoreboards and Fixed Equipment

Local clubs and organisations can seek access to support from the fund through the by submitting an Expression of Interest Form for Community Organisations directly to their local council or Alpine Resort Board.

The Community Sports Infrastructure Stimulus Program will continue supporting Victoria’s economy by working with Local Government Authorities, Alpine Resort Boards and sporting organisations to fast-track shovel ready community sports infrastructure projects.

There has never been a better time for Victorian fishing clubs and associations to join VRFish as a Fishing Club Supporter Member so your Club can access new funding opportunities and greater support through Sport and Recreation Victoria.

Clubs, associations and individuals can join VRFish through our website here: www.vrfish.com.au/membership-join/
