COVID Funding Support for Clubs

The COVID-19 pandemic has heavily impacted the community sport and recreation sector across the country. We know it’s been tough for many clubs as they haven’t been able to host events, raffles and other traditional fundraising to continue to their club operations through these trying times.

Ensuring that our community of fishing clubs and associations can survive the COVID-19 pandemic and continue to operate on the ‘other-side’ is critical to our sector, our fishers physical and metal wellbeing, as well as the economic value provided across the state through recfishing.

VRFish was recently endorsed by Sport and Recreation Victoria as a State Sport and Recreation Body. This is an incredible benefit to our Fishing Club and Association Members as they are now eligible to apply for funding and have greater support through Sport and Recreation Victoria. Often funding through the department stipulates that the club must be a member of a recognised body.

Sport and Recreation Victoria has notified VRFish that round 2 of the Community Sport Sector COVID-19 Short-term Survival Program is now open.

The funding intends to support organisations to maintain their operational viability and ensure they are prepared to return to activity as COVID-19 restrictions ease. The grant can help your club pay for unavoidable expenses such as insurance which can be a massive help during this time.

There has never been a better time for Victorian fishing clubs and associations to join VRFish as it unlocks new funding opportunities for our clubs.
