Sunraysia River Repair Bus is Rolling into Town

The Sunraysia environment is set to receive significant restoration over the coming years with the setup of OzFish Unlimited second dedicated River Repair Bus.

The bus was recently awarded funding by a Federal Government Economic Development grant.

The River Repair Bus is a truly unique, successful initiative developed by one of OzFish Unlimited’s Chapters – Inland Waterways based in Dubbo -where it has been used weekly for rubbish and weed removal, revegetation and riverbend planting and habitat improvements along kilometres of the Macquarie River.

The Sunraysia River Repair Bus strategic plan is to identify and protect areas of high natural value; enhance, protect and celebrate our river systems and wetlands; and support the work of local environmental groups that improves the natural diversity of our environmentally sensitive areas.

The Sunraysia River Repair Bus will be focused on restoration outcomes on private and public land, the Murray River and its associated creeks, tributaries and wetlands. The Sunraysia River Repair Bus will also provide an opportunity for up to 35 participants to gain unique skills in hands-on river restoration and prepare them for future employment.
