VRFish Endorsed as State Sport and Recreation Body

VRFish is elated to be recognised as a state sport and recreation body by Sport and Recreation Victoria.

The recognition is a significant achievement for our organisation and validates VRFish’s leadership role for our sector and our commitment to promote fishing as a healthy and active recreation to all Victorians.

The endorsement provides enormous benefits to our 140-strong fishing club and association members as they now have access to new funding opportunities and greater support through Sport and Recreation Victoria.

Fishing Clubs and Associations over many years been contacting VRFish noting their first-hand experience and disappointment that they were excluded from grant schemes stipulating a mandatory requirement to be affiliated with a recognised state sport and recreation body.

Thanks to VRFish’s advocacy, new funding opportunities have been unlocked to better support the fishing community to keep healthy, active and enhance the sport of recreational fishing.

During COVID-19 restrictions, fishing clubs and associations will need extra support to get their organisations back on track and enjoy this wonderful recreation.

We thank Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence for approving our application and supporting the Victorian Government’s Target One Million policy to get more Victorians fishing, more often.

There has never been a better time for Victorian fishing clubs and associations to join VRFish.

Clubs, associations and individuals can join VRFish through our website here: www.vrfish.com.au/membership-join/
