Point Richards Boating Facility Upgrade Community Consultation

The Point Richards boating facility is getting an upgrade thanks to the State Government’s unprecedented investment in boating in Victoria.

Better Boating Victoria (BBV) is overseeing the delivery of the government’s boating commitments and the Point Richards boating facility upgrade.

The upgrade will take place in two stages, starting with an upgrade to the car park.

The upgrade to the car park will deliver improved pedestrian safety, more parking and better traffic flow.

The second stage will address changes to marine side infrastructure once a coastal processes study to better understand the issues associated with seagrass and sand build up is complete. A separate consultation for this second stage will occur in 2020

Thomson Berrill Landscape Design have been engaged by BBV to develop concept plans for the upgraded car park and BBV wants to hear what you have to say about the plans.

To facilitate this discussion, BBV, Maritime Safety Victoria and the Victorian Fisheries Authority will be hosting a community event about the project. So, if you want to see the draft plans and have your say in building a better boating facility then come along.

There will be a BBQ and refreshments available as well as interactive boating and fishing education and safety displays for all the family.

The feedback BBV receives from the community event will inform a final concept design that will be used as the basis for the future upgrade.

This project is part of the Government’s $47.2 million commitment to deliver urgent upgrades to six of the state’s busiest public boat ramps, remove parking and launching fees and review infrastructure management at Port Phillip and Western Port.

Event details:

Date: Saturday 30 November
Time: 2pm-4pm noon
