Victorian Fishing Rules Review

Public consultation for the remaking of the Fisheries Regulations (our fishing rules) has been released. These are reviewed every 10 years to make sure they are still fit-for-purpose for the next 10 years.

We are getting our head around what changes are being proposed by Government. VRFish made some suggestions for consideration early in the process, including asking for a wider and inclusive discussion with our sector on how to make the rules simpler, easier and better and what everyone thinks is a fair and reasonable days’ catch.

VRFish have prepared a survey to help capture your feedback on the proposed changes as well as identifying other changes you would like to see. Any additional changes or improvements will require VRFish to demonstrate to Government a strong level of support from our sector.

In the meantime, comments can be made directly to Government on the proposed changes via the link below – and remember comments close October 29th.

Also, drop us a line at [email protected] on any thoughts, improvements and ideas you have as we prepare our survey.
