Cast a Line at Ferntree Gully Quarry

After years of advocating for the Ferntree Gully Quarry to be stocked and open to fishing, the hard work has finally paid off! On Wednesday, the incredible waterway was stocked with catchable size trout, yellowbelly and Murray Cod.

This new urban fishery will provide great land based fishing opportunities for the local community! The lake itself is 11-metres deep and due to the mix of trout and native fish, it will provide year-round fishing opportunities for anglers.

In the lead up to the June & September school holidays, the Quarry will be stocked with more rainbow trout. In December, it will be stocked with Australian Bass fingerlings. The fingerlings will take around three or four years to reach catchable size.

The Knox City Council has put in lots of work over the last 10 years to rehabilitate the vegetation in the area. Access to the lake has been improved through open fields and walkways.
